Supervision for Coaches and Consultants

As a supervisor, I love to see the coaches and consultants that I work with become even more confident and effective in their practice and make a tangible difference in the organisations in which they work.

The aims of supervision for coaches and consultants are:

In supervision, our work together is ultimately in service of the coachees and organisations that you are working with. This makes it different to coaching, even if the experience may feel very similar. You need to be supported, to be accountable and to continue learning in order to fully and sustainably support your clients to change and achieve their goals.

My approach to supervision is mainly ‘person-centred’ and ‘psychodynamic’. We will find new insight together by exploring what is going on, both in the topics that you bring to the session and in the relationship between us, the supervisor and supervisee. The answers will come from you but I may also contribute my own perspectives as an experienced coach and consultant.

Supervision Programmes

Individual Supervision

One-to-one supervision is an important and precious opportunity to partner together to develop your coaching practice. Over time, we will see themes and patterns emerging as we deepen our trust in each other and our understanding of your clients, your strengths, values and development areas. Supervision enables you to truly serve your clients, knowing that you can bring questions, challenges and plans to a place of safety and supportive challenge.

To ensure we can build this relationship, I offer one-to-one supervision in blocks of five sessions. The frequency of supervision will depend on the number of coaching hours you are undertaking. As a rule of thumb, the Association for Coaching requires a minimum of one hour of supervision for every 15 hours of coaching at Coach / Executive Coach level. I recommend that we meet at least quarterly.

I am an Accredited Ashridge Supervisor, recognised by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), and am bound by the Ashridge Code of Conduct for Supervisors.

"I really trusted Rebecca. She immediately put me at my ease, re-contracting for the focus of our sessions each time that we met. She is a superb listener, who focused on making me feel that my needs were totally at the heart of the supervision session. Her experience and understanding of the coaching paradigm provided me with instant respect for Rebecca as a professional, someone who not only uses appropriate coaching techniques, but helped me to get to the crux of the coaching issues that I needed to discuss and knots that needed to be untied."

Internal Group Supervision

Coaches, consultants and leaders and working internally have additional challenges in their practice as they hold boundaries and respect confidentiality, while being part of the same system as the people that they work with as clients, affected by the same organisational challenges and changes. Supervision in a group of colleagues is a powerful way of learning together and from each other, becoming more aware of the system that you are all part of, and how this affects your work.

I offer group supervision for groups of up to eight from the same organisation face to face or online. This can be a useful “one off”, but is also effective as a regular part of your work as internal agents for change. This way, actions can be reviewed, themes built on, and trust and awareness can grow.

"A critical moment [in supervision] was challenging whether this was an organisational issue or a coaching issue. [Rebecca] gave me more confidence on how I may be able to proceed. She got the pragmatism needed in an internal coaching role."
